What is Gypsum Powder?

Gypsum powder is a widely used building material in the construction industry. Extracted from natural gypsum deposits, this material undergoes a heating process in a kiln at approximately 180°C. This process removes some of the water molecules, resulting in gypsum powder ready for use in various industries.

The fineness of the gypsum powder plays a crucial role in its quality—finer particles lead to better performance. Gypsum powder has been utilized since ancient times and remains one of the most important adhesive materials in construction. Its applications include interior plastering, decorative molding, casting, and whitewashing.

Acoustic Properties

Gypsum powder has excellent acoustic properties, absorbing 60% to 70% of sound vibrations and reducing echo and sound reflection.

The Hardening Process of Gypsum Powder

Gypsum rock is used in two forms: raw and calcined. To produce gypsum powder, the gypsum rock is crushed and heated in a kiln. Once processed, the resulting powder can be used in various applications in construction and other industries.

Benefits of Gypsum Powder:

  • Easy to Apply: Gypsum sets quickly and offers a smooth finish.
  • Sound Insulation: Helps reduce noise pollution in buildings.
  • Fire Resistance: Provides a protective barrier against fire.
  • Versatility: Suitable for a variety of applications in construction.

Gypsum powder remains a staple in modern construction, offering both functionality and aesthetic appeal. Its unique properties make it an essential component of building materials worldwide.
